The house is arranged around a series of courtyards, bringing the outdoors in. The front court has some magnificent established trees integrated with the new home and has been elevated from street level to retain privacy while maximizing on its northern orientation. The central court is more introspective with large stepping stones and a water spout feature wall spilling into a large Balinese pot perched on a natural green stone pond and pedestal. This court, while mostly enclosed, provides a more sheltered and secluded environment while being quite decorative.

At ground level, floors and sprung blackbutt timber giving softness under foot with a restrained palette of colours and materials complimenting the other natural materials. Timber floors, doors, balustrade and upstairs cedar lined raking ceilings are used in conjunction with painted exposed steel. A combination of painted rendered walls and natural finished limestone walls are used to provide visual relief to the building mass. The dark natural slate roof is a powerful element of the construction yet gives this home a subtle stature.
